Iceland’s PM and her new wife! June 28, 2010

Filed under: glbt — Jender @ 2:23 pm

Another first for Iceland.

Iceland’s prime minister has married her partner under a new law legalizing same-sex marriage in the country.

One of her advisers, Hrannar B. Arnarsson, said Monday Prime Minister Johanna Sigurdardottir and writer Jonina Leosdottir were officially married Sunday, the day the law came into force.

Hurrah– and congratulations!!

Good for her…and the country for the new law.

I like how she appointed women to fill half of her Cabinet positions. She also replaced the 2 men that ran 2 of the biggest banks in Iceland with women after the banks basically failed. It’s nice to see she is moving the country in the right direction.

Now let’s see what the new Aussie PM can do for her country :)
