An online magazine about sexual violence at Amherst College. Trigger warning, but some really moving stuff. This (along with some recent email notices from campus police at my own institution) really makes me want to think long and hard about what we can do to help make campuses safer spaces.

The more I read about and think about these ssorts of questions, the more I think one very major factor is institutional culture, particularly the culture the administration encourages. It is quite stunning to see that the current pres of amherst realizes this.
This account is hardly original to me. But i think the extent to which abuse can flourish in a climate where victims are simply perceved as complaining troublemakers should be more foregrounded that it often is.
