One of Dr. Johnson’s well-known witticism contains an odious comparison of a woman preaching and “a dog walking on his hind legs: one doesn’t expect it to be done well–the wonder is that it is done at all.” But change the comparison to that between the dog and a cat playing a piano, and one can bestow a certain charm on it.
