Wow. I’d never actually listened to the lyrics of this song. Certainly didn’t know it was about how we chicks all need babies to make us complete, and how bad sexual freedom is. And now it’s gonna be stuck in my head all day. Damn.

This version might help; it’s “the drag version.”
Many thanks. It did.
That’s great. I didn’t quite get it, but at least it was different.
Of course we need babies! If we don’t use our reproductive system, it’ll all shrivel up and we’ll go through a painful menopause! That’s what the newest research from, uhm, 1873 clearly shows! Oh, darn, did my time-machine get stuck again?!?
(If you want to read an interesting, though somewhat depressing, chapter on the all-too familiar stereotypes that were floating around in the late 19th century, check out “Liberty: A Better Husband” around p. 192 – that’s where the painful menopause thing is mentioned… I find it depressing to realize that these stereotypes are still around 135 years later… Sigh.)
I heard that on the radio a few months ago and remember being really, really annoyed.
… says the ‘Very Superior’ 1930s wife… ha ha
