Sort of. Actually, not really at all. But a very fun idea, passed on by Den Bro in comments and Andrew in an email.
Instead of (in addition to?) us all complaining about how horrible she
is, let’s all make a donation to Planned Parenthood in Sarah Palin’s
name for reminding us of the importance of protecting our rights for
birth control, women’s health and reproductive choice. This is a
brilliant idea for $10, or even $5.And here’s the good part: when you make a donation to PP in her name,
they’ll send her a card telling her that the donation has been made in
her honor. Use this link. You’ll need to fill in the address to let Planned Parenthood know
where to send the “in Sarah Palin’s honor” card. I suggest you use the
address for the McCain campaign headquarters, which is:McCain for President
1235 S. Clark Street
1st Floor
Arlington , VA 22202PS: make sure you use that link above or choose the pulldown of
Donate–Honorary or Memorial Donations, not the regular “Donate
Online”
hehe funny

Great idea!
[…] Sarah Palin support Planned Parenthood Posted on September 20, 2008 by punkfairy Taken from Feminist Philosophers (I hope you dont mind) Instead of (in addition to?) us all complaining about how horrible she is, […]
Done, sort of like Keith Obermann donating $100 every time the wolf hunter lies. He just donated over $3,000 to the Special Olympics in Alaska, Gov Palin cut that budget.
did it and am still giggling, would like to know how many and how much though, this is a great idea
I laughed out loud. Then I opened my wallet and got my credit card out and made the donation. What a terrific idea!!
Hurrah!!!! That makes me very happy, all of you!
I passed this on to some friends, and one who does work for Planned Parenthood e-mailed back from their national conference, telling me that in the first few hours that this started circulating in cyberspace Planned Parenthood received OVER 4000 DONATIONS in Palin’s name! This is such a great campaign … pass it on!
Her’s a site on the topic that folks can pass around and post in blogs and such: http://www.plannedparenthoodandsarahpalin.com/
theres something like this here:

This is an amazing idea. I wish there was some way to get the word out even faster. Not only is it sending a message, but its hopefully tying up valuable resources and man hours to sort the mail coming into the McCain headquarters! Its scary how close this election is and how much our rights may be affected if the wrong person wins. Sarah Palin is a disgrace to women everywhere and is in no way going to be breaking any glass ceilings if she gets into the whitehouse…she will simply undo generations of priceless rights that our mothers and grandmothers struggled to obtain. Boo to you Palin!
….
and yes, I did go donate…anything i can do to get the point across to Palin on how many women DO NOT support her.

Oh, what a great idea!! As soon as I’m no longer unemployed I’m doing this.
This is a great idea – giggling already.
aprilbrunjes: in that case, you should definately look into continuing education courses at your local college. most schools have at least one class dedicated to women’s studies and you could learn a lot – clearly.
This is going nationwide now. Do we know yet how many donations have come in to PP for Ms. Palin? I donated, then sent the instructions to more friends. Have any mainstream news media picked up on the story yet?
Fab idea. Thanks!
I agree with u gals! Sarah Palin is SO wrong!!!! I was doing a bit of a research about her propaganda and I disliked her the moment I read that she is pro-life and wants women to keep unwanted babies!!! I mean.. even the end-product of a rape case or incest! Can you believe that?!!!!
http://4mgiselle.wordpress.com
Hey! This is like what they do in this hindi movie : Lage Raho Munna Bhaai!
I m pretty sure thats illegal. And it s not like it would send her a message, or change her opinion. Seems like a waste of money for a prank no one will get but you. Haha?
oppose sarah pALIN., thats all thats there to it!!!
Thanks for the link, I just made my donation in Sarah’s name. PP is a great organization that absolutely prevents more abortions than all the right-wing “pro-life” organizations put together. If they want to prevent abortions, where are their free and low cost clinics for women that offer pre-natal care and very low cost contraceptives?
And to the person who thinks that it is illegal to make a donation in someone else’s name, you are quite incorrect. I can make a donation in the President’s name, or the name of my local minister. Or in the name of my late grandmother, who fought hard for women to have the right of dominion over their own bodies.
What a fabulous idea — I would finance an abortion in her name if I knew how! BULGARIAN SOLICITORS is wrong, it’s not illegal. And if enough if us do it, it WILL send a message. But even if it doesn’t, it makes a lot of us left-leaning ladies feel like we’ve done a good thing (donated to a good cause) while smiting the enemy in spirit, at least.
this is the best idea! i am donating today! and what a great cause (seriously). oh, i love this! thank you to whoever it was that thought of this one. i am passing along to everyone i know, too. JOEBAMA ’08 …
What a great idea. Lets add PETA, HSUS, ASPCA, the Sierra Club, and National Wildlife to the list.
BRILLIANT.
I just sent this link to everyone in my mailbox –
Ooh, I think that “loader” is a ringer. Just what the vicious right would do.
I will send a donation today. However mine will be sent in honor of Bristol Palin, who really really really needed honest information about contraception so she could have prevented her shotgun baby and shotgun wedding. I’m waffling between “in honor of Bristol Palin” or “in memory of Bristol Palin’s future”, ie her future which has now been irrepairably damaged.
By the way , I read somewhere that Sarah Palin’s eldest child was born just 8 months after her wedding. Can anyone get access to the hospital records to see if this was a premature birth or , as seems more likely, a pre-marital conception ?
[…] Palin, Planned Parenthood H/T to Rogue Rebel Ridiculous for letting me know what a big success the Palin/Planned Parenthood Donation Campaign has been. According to the New York Times, So far, the scheme seems to be getting a strong response. […]
that made me feel soooooo good. maybe, just maybe, this will make her think for even a second about HEALTHY reproductive policies. it probably won’t, but at least it will get planned a little something!
[…] Get details on Feminist Philosopher’s blog but the gist is, when you make a donation to Planned Parenthood (even $5), they’ll send a card to Mrs. Palin stating you donated in her honor. […]
I liked the email so much, I turned it into a Facebook group!
IT’S WORKING!
The media is starting to take notice of the viral campaign to FLOOD THE MCCAIN/PALIN HEADQUARTERS WITH THANK YOU CARDS FROM PLANNED PARENTHOOD!
http://www.new.facebook.com/profile.php?id=547468571&ref=name#/group.php?gid=32527367690&ref=mf
This is grassroots politics at their very, very best. I happily made an additional donation to Planned Parenthood, indicating mine was in honor of Governor Palin. I hope this makes her NUTS.
thank you kate
and my own response to loader
i don’t support sarah palin.
i do support planned parenthood.
calling her child dumb and retarded is cruel, thoughtless and reflects on your inability to accept that supporting a woman’s right to choose means just that…their right to choose…
not their right to chose what you want them to do.
you are the one blog that will be quoted as fuel for some extremist’s headlines…
i’m surprised your response was printed but this is the first time i have been to this site and the first time i have ever written on one…if there are unwritten rules i don’t know them.
i just couldn’t let this go…
if we are to live together in some type of harmony, the language we use to discuss differences may well determine whether we even have a discussion.
Linda, thanks! I had actually thought I’d deleted Loader’s comment already. Will do so.
The evening news reported this, just to let the world know how upset she was, which of course, gave the brilliant creators of this idea tons of free publicity. I googled you immediately and then sent my donation, passing it on to 20 friends. Just brilliant, and, again, so much more useful than just making fun of her!
Blessings to you for your great idea and all the women it will help!
Many thanks to all of you for all the praise and enthusiasm. But we are actually just messengers for the idea, which originated elsewhere (I’m not sure where). And very pleased to be such!
Thanks for the info. I donated, but found a better address than the one above (as this fits into the allotted boxes on the PP site. It is Palin’s Washington, DC office.
Washington DC Office
444 North Capitol NW, Suite 336
Washington, DC 20001-1512
Phone (202) 624-5858
Fax (202) 624-5857
This is SUCH a great idea and, I am sure, much appreciated by this underfunded organization.
That felt soooooooooooooooo good! GLad I had the chance to see this in time
over $1,000,000 donated so far, and the first 8,000 cards have been sent
some guy was disgusted at her “anti-woman” stance and started an email campaign.
amazing
Sad.
That is the only word that comes to mind when I read this. I am a woman in my 20’s and don’t understand why women can’t/won’t take responsibility for their own bodies. It’s not that hard for a man to wear a condom ladies!!
Let me be clear, I’m not talking about rape or cases where a baby will suffer huge disibilities if born, but to consider abortion “OK” because it doesn’t suit your lifestyle speaks volumes of you as human being.
Disheartened, 54% of women who have an abortion used birth control — usually, in these cases, incorrectly. Also, in 2004, about 74% of women seeking an abortion did so because it would interfere with their education, work, or ability to care for other dependence, 73% did so because they were unable to afford a baby, 48% did so because they didn’t want to be a single mother or were having relationship problems, and 22% said they weren’t mature enough to raise a(nother) child. (PDF here)
This is the sadest day in my life, I was looking to join the Patriots supporing Palin and found this muck. It is deeper than Alaskan mud, if you have every been fortuante enough to be in Alask aand walk in there incredible soil in the wilderness… Not a place for high heeled girls who need night life.
I think the founding father’s wifes would be saddened that the wasted there time and fortures to create an american culture so crude with and lack of dignity.
Patriot, if I understand you correctly, you need to try to achieve more emotional independence from these cues in your environment. There are real tragedies that can create very, very sad days. If that is genuinely how you are reacting to this site, you have a significant problem; among other things, you have things wildly out of proportion.
On the other hand, I suppose you might be trying to be very manipulative. If so, that didn’t work.
