Turns out the Republican National Committee’s Insurance plan covers abortion!
The memo said the RNC received a phone call from a reporter on Wednesday asking whether the RNC’s health care policy, through Cigna, covered elective abortions for employees. On Thursday, Politico.com published a report citing two sales agents for Cigna who said the RNC’s policy covered elective abortion.
The Cigna employees said the RNC didn’t choose to opt out of abortion coverage when given the opportunity, Politico.com reported.
Of course, now the RNC is rapidly changing their coverage plan. Sucks to be a female RNC employee today. But then, it probably always does, in one way or another. (Thanks, Jender-Mom!)
It’s the sheer perfection that grabs me.
I’m not sure that’s really hypocritical. Wanting and having something for myself is obviously needn’t entail the belief that everyone in the country is entitled to that thing, as well.
That might be true of some things, K (I might want and have a female social worker because of some traumatic experience I have suffered in the past whilst not thinking that everyone else is entitled to one too), but it’s surely hypocrisy in the above case. The rhetoric – as far as I’m aware – is that abortion is morally repugnant murder of the innocent which goes against God’s holy laws. If that’s true, then it can’t be right for anyone to choose to have one (perhaps bar some exceptional cases where the mother’s life is at risk).
monkey, maybe they think that their members can be trusted to only use it in those exceptional circumstances, where the general public cannot. (i’m just stirring the pot. really i think it’s hypocritical.)
True. So then a different post title might be ‘Republicans think only Republicans capable of making morally correct choices’. Reminds me of ‘Men create study to show that men smarter than women’. :P
