I am on there :D
Me too.
Jender, are you fading? O dear, o dear.
I just put up 2 beloved people.
On International Women’s Day at MIT this spring the Women’s and Gender Studies Program had people wear stickers that say “This is What a Feminist Looks Like”. (I can send a template for those who might want to do it at their school.) I got this email from a grad student:
“Partly inspired by the sticker idea, and partly by a desire among Russian-speaking bloggers in a virtual community which I am a part of to do something on March 8, I’ve tried to start a little virtual campaign of gathering a picture album with portraits of ourselves, “That’s what a feminist looks like” style. (I must mention that for Russian-speaking people, the f-word is even more stigmatized than in America…) If you have a minute, you might enjoy the result
(http://picasaweb.google.com/111075922405587538503/SohvAK?authkey=Gv1sRgCIii5JmDlIi0XA#) – for me, it was really good; I hoped it would work, but was not sure at all. I also know that a lot of people who are somewhat active feminist writers in Russian language have not participated – it is not like those 50 people are everyone; but stigma is strong, so in a sense it is surprising that we had at least that many – and I really like the faces of the people who sent their pictures.”
(I have his permission to send this.)
