  1. I’m in Wisconsin and this was a feature of our capitol occupation as well. We devoted a wing of the occupied capitol to the Family Center, with donated play materials and volunteer sitters so that parents could protest (though given the acoustics of that building, it was never a good place for sound-sensitive kids at any point during our protests!). Several friends of mine also slept over with their children in the building.

Likewise, at the Walkerville on our capitol square in early summer (inspired by Tahrir Square/Puerta del Sol/Syntagma Square + Hooverville), we set up family area at the opposite end from the drumming/amplified sound area so kids could play and nap in relative peace. (Of course, if they stayed overnight, they still had to contend with drunken harassment at bar time each night. Drunk conservatives loved to go scream next to the tents at 2AM. That they felt comfortable doing so probably reflects an excess of politeness on our part.)

It seems that once people start organizing their own spaces, this is one of the needs that quickly becomes apparent and addressed.
