Many lefty friends from the US and UK tend to idolise Scandinavia. But many Scandinavian friends have remarked to me that although things there are better (though far from perfect) on gender, they are really bad on race. This looks to be spectacularly bad on both. It’s the Swedish minister of culture cutting a supposedly witty cake and feeding bits to the blacked-up artist who made it.

UPDATE: The more I think about this, the more I think I don’t know enough about the totality of the installation to make any sort of judgment at all. I’d welcome links to sources with fuller information.
