Jubilee celebrations staffed by unpaid labour

who had to sleep under a bridge. Really.

Both stewards said they were originally told they would be paid. But when they got to the coach on Saturday night, they said, they were told that the work would be unpaid and that if they did not accept it they would not be considered for well-paid work at the Olympics.

  1. And this is the government’s work program! With charities getting involved since, as one put it, unpaid labor is good because it gives the unemployed experience.

I wonder what the spread of unpaid internships in the UK is like compared to the US? It is now supposed to be very hard to find a paid entry level job in the US with anything like a big company or indeed the UN.
