Sometimes you win one. The state legislature of Texas voted to pass SB5 (the bill that would in effect close 37 of the state’s 42 abortion clinics), but the Lieutenant Governor of Texas has ruled that the vote took place at 12:03am – 3 minutes past the deadline.

It’s correct for now, at least! Wendy Davis just made a victory speech.
I imagine the Republicans will appeal, though.
I feel and understand the joyful celebration, but i can’t help being saddened deeply, knowing how brutal the battle has been and still is, for the most basic rights for women, even now, in the 21st century. The elderly man who spoke was so right. The battle goes on and will need ongoing struggles, many of which are in themselves brutal and painful.
