Michel Smith spent some time in a talk at Rice Universty talking about the crude values the boys in his Australian childhood took to be required. The behavior is far from universal, but it got a good airing in discussions of the country’s PM.

Peter Adamson is following up from a discussion we had a few months back about how to include more women in his history of philosophy podcasts. He is now preparing the first companion volume to the podcasts which covers Ancient Philosophy up to Aristotle, and would like some advice as to how to include more women. Shared childcare: some insights on what’s not happening.
A little research into equal parenting reveals that the satisfying picture of men routinely sharing childcare is simply a myth. Those surveys are misleading at best. Men haven’t taken on childcare in anything like the numbers we’ve been led to believe.
