  1. I thought it was very interesting. I tried to leave a note, but couldn’t, even after many replies. Here it is:

Your comment, “…very few men have actually been complained about, and an even smaller number have had any action taken against them,” is important, but I wonder if you have much solid evidence for this?

My sense, for what it is worth, is that there is much to discourage complaints, and many, many complaints are not acted upon.

  2. Hi Anne,

Sorry to hear you had trouble leaving a comment – that is a drag. I’ll check to see if any settings are off. In the meantime, let me just say that we are in agreement. The reason there are very few complaints is that, as you say, ‘there is much to discourage complaints’, and the reason that very few men have had action taken against them is, again, as you say “many, many complaints are not acted upon”. I was not trying to indicate otherwise.

  3. Samir, Thanks for the clarification! I guess I count myself as knowing that many, many complaints are not acted upon because of my own experience, that of friends, and the many official newspaper stories about it.

It turns out it was my fault that I couldn’t leave a message. Something about my having changed one part and not another.
