Just FYI: I conferred with Amy Ferrer about what the APA can do about childcare provision at APA meetings. As it turns out, hiring an outside provider is not financially feasible. And when the APA offered childcare in the past, it was vastly underutilized. The policy that now stands is that anyone in need of childcare support in connection with attending an APA divisional meeting simply needs to contact the division’s secretary-treasurer to ask for some subsidy. Subsidies are distributed on a need basis – e.g. a grad student will have stronger claim than a full prof.
