Tampon tax funding anti-abortion charity

The government has confirmed that a portion of the money raised from the so-called tampon tax will go towards anti-abortion charity Life. Despite outcry from MPs and a number of petitions, the charity will receive a quarter of a million pounds of a £12m total shared with other women’s charities.

Many years ago, the band “Lard” (a weird project band, made up from people from the Industrial dance band Ministry and Jello Biafra from the Dead Kennedys) had a song, “Mate, Spawn, and Die” with the line in it, “If men bled, would tampons be free?” The answer is probably no (toilet paper isn’t free, after all) but still, things like this tax always make me be sympathetic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMkN0BfRorA
